Kavita Devi is a professional wrestler from a small village called Malvi in Haryana, where no facilities are available for women athletes. Born on 1983, she did her schoolings in the Government Girls Senior Secondary school, which is located in Juliana. As soon as she received her graduation from the Bachelor of Arts, she joined SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal), where she was found to be appointed as a constable. As she shown interest in sports, she left her Sub Inspector job at SSB and concentrate to make her debut in the sporting career.

In the course of time, she becomes popular in her sporting career. She is a former power-lifter of India and gold medalist in 2016 South Asian games. Then, she wants to develop into a professional wrestler. As a stepping stone to achieve this, she has undergone training under the guidance of Dalip Singh Rana, who is none other than a former WWE champion commonly referred as “The Great Khali”, at his wrestling promotion & training academy in Punjab. She is married to Gaurav Tomar. Her spouse, Gaurav, is a volleyball player. She is a son named Abhijeet.

During her stay in the CWE Academy, she has knocked down India’s first professional woman wrestler BB Bull Bull.  Suddenly, she rose to fame as soon as her video of knocking down BB Bull Bull, went viral on the social media. In the year 2017, she has turned out to be the first woman from India to compete in the WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment. Kavita fought against Dakota Kai from New Zealand in the initial round of Mae Young Classic – first all-woman competition of WWE. Even though she lost the tournament by getting defeated in the encounter, yet her ring attire and wrestling skills caught the minds of lots of wrestling followers all over the world.Kavita Devi Profile

Being the first female wrestler from India to compete in the WWE ring, she is looking out to keep track the footsteps of her trainer and inspiration, The Great Khali. The most important quality, which Kavita Devi has in familiar with the former World Heavy Weight Championship, is power. No doubt that Devi is a talented power lifter whose size and strength gave her an opportunity on her Mae Young Classic competition. By representing India, she has participated in a number of international competitions including South Asian Games 2016, where she won a gold medal in the 75 KG category.

Even though she will be relatively inexperienced as compared to other counterparts in the classic, Kavita Devi has enough physical tools to reach a certain height. As a part of historic Dubai try out of WWE in April, She had received the attention of WWE scouts. With the help of her immense physical skills, Kavita Devi would surely grow to be a household name in the sport of wrestling. May be, it is going to happen with the Mae young classic, this summer. She was honored to be the first woman in India to compete in the first ever tournament of WWE for women. She hopes to make use of this platform to motivate other Indian women through her performance and made India proud.
